Payday Lunch Series: Corazon Filipino-Hispano

I never imagined that the construction that's been going on for a while around Shangri La Mall meant a whole new wing to the original one that we have now. Though most of it were still empty and still smell of faint paint jobs, I'm sure it would be one buzzing and pretty wing to behold. Ano daw??!?

Since it was payday Friday, the payday lunch series is on!!! We excitedly walked from our building to the newest wing of Shangri La in search of a new restaurant to try. We picked Corazon. A Filipino-Spanish fusion restaurant.

The chairs, which looked a lot like candy canes, immediately caught my attention!

One more for emphasis.

The bar inside Corazon.

Menu.

Their menu cover art is too pretty for words.

Wala lang shot. I took these shots because of the Salvador and the Ortega.

Ciudad Real. Lechon kawali on top of creamy laing. Boom!

I forgot the Spanish name of this baked oyster oops.

Corazon's Paella Negra serves 3-4 persons. That's how big it was! Not to mention delicious.

This dish, too, has escaped me. Basta yung kinilaw na tuna and pork liempo with lots and lots of vinegar, onions and peppers.

Lamb adobo topped with kesong puti. I was never a fan of lambs nor kesong puti, what a great combo :))

I forgot to mention that aside from that day being a payday Friday, it was also a despedida lunch for our friend Xan who, sadly, has to leave (us) for health reasons. *sniff*

Overall, the food did not disappoint. The service was good and, I have to hand it to the staff, quick. An observation before I end this post. I'm no interior designer but they could have done with better lighting design. The dangling lines from the mini spotlights were distracting and you could see na pinilit lang sya. I hope they do something about it for an improved overall vibes di ba. Just thinking out loud :)

Carbo Loading at Cyma

Okay. Hindi pantay-pantay ang image size but I did it anyway, put 'em in one frame :))

Last minute call of order (no regrets!) of Spinach and Artichoke Fondue. Who knew eating veggies could be fun. Although I do eat all kinds of veggies naman talaga so matagal nang fun! Lol labo.

Cyma's Spinach and Artichoke Fondue

A closer inspection... I know it might not look sumptuous based from my shots but trust me, it is good!

Ten and I ordered Mixed Meat Gyros...

while Roan settled for Lamb Gyro.

I really like the interiors of Greek restaurants, lakas maka-good vibes. Opa!

Payday Lunch Series: Lemongrass Asian Bistro

Another edition of (long overdue) payday lunch dates. It was Xan's turn and she chose Lemongrass Asian Bistro.

Here's their menu (front):

Back.

Here's what Maricris ordered: Breaded Dory on Medley of Veggies. It was a pretty sad of veggie medley imho.

We also ordered the following: Baby Back Ribs

Asian Pork Riblets with Pepper Salt

Pork Riblets with Honey Garlic Sauce

Steamed Dory with Tomato, Mushroom & Olives

We each ordered rice to go with everything. Frankly speaking, there's nothing special with their overpriced fragrant rice that even if you still want a second (or half) helping you'd hesitate because it's so expensive! This also goes to almost everything we ordered, there's really nothing special about them at all. No meal stood out because of it's uniqueness nor taste. Quite the disappointment considering the steep prices.

Good thing this Sticky Rice with Mango and Ice Cream dessert saved the day! Kung alin pa yung libre yun pa ang nag-stand out (free from Citibank card users I think).

I Found the Droid I'm Looking For!

Well at least the other half of the great droid duo that was Threepio and Artoo. This is one MASSIVE R2D2 made from Lego bricks! Also a combo of my two loves, Lego and Star Wars.

If you can't fathom its enormousness, allow me to be your visual scale (if the lego display kissing the ceiling still ain't convincing you that is!).

Sentosa Singaporean Restaurant

Friday the 13th payday and a very annoying email about a very annoying person led us to Shangri-La Mall's Sentosa Singaporean Restaurant. It's located at the Ledge right beside Sumo Sam and Tender Bob's.

menu

Come to think of it, we didn't order any noodles haha.

They had these nice lantern lights.

We ordered the following:

Roti Canai or should I say a cheap version of Roti Canai. I ate this in Petaling Jaya and I could've swear it was bigger, cheaper and tastes a lot better there. Sentosa's Roti Canai has the saddest cheese fillings ever :(

Bandung Rose Milk Tea ordered by my officemate, Xan. I don't like its taste, reminded me of temples lol. But its pink color is pretty entertaining. Ten had a Chrysanthemum Iced Tea which I liked (but she didn't haha).

Chicken Rice. I forgot the name!

We had half an order of Singaporean Hainanese Boneless Chicken.

Which came with these. We had to ask 3 times for these because they didn't have a refill readily available on the table (like Wee Nam Kee's) plus they serve too little.

Pork Spare Ribs (I forgot the complete name again!). This one's on the salty side which is favourable to Ten only haha.

And this pahabol seafood order. Win!

It was a good lunch but I'm not sure I'm ready to eat here anytime soon again.
